The exact claim being made

Every number on this site answers one question and no other: how much of a defined corpus of independent public pages names this vendor?

That is a measurement of published attention. It is not a measurement of product quality, reliability, support, security, pricing fairness, financial health, or fitness for your business. We do not test the software, we do not interview customers, and we do not rank vendors by merit anywhere on this site.

If a vendor's share is low

It means the sources we measured rarely name it. The most common reasons are mundane: the vendor is younger, sells through partners, serves a niche, or simply has not invested in being written about by independent publishers. None of those is a defect in the product, and readers should not treat a low share as one.

Not advice

Nothing here is professional, legal, financial or investment advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, avoid, or divest from any company. Do not use this site as the sole basis for a purchasing, investment, employment or contractual decision. Buyers should evaluate software against their own requirements; the index tells you what the web is talking about, not what you should buy.

Accuracy and the limits we know about

• The corpus is a sample of the public web collected at a point in time, not a census of it.
• Different assistants read different sources, and the same assistant gives different answers on different days.
• Automated text extraction can misread a page: a vendor named in a comparison table may be counted differently from one named in prose.
• Figures are rounded for display; small differences between two vendors may not be meaningful.
• The corpus depth is held constant between editions, because changing it changes the ranking. That is stated in the method rather than hidden.

We publish these limits ourselves, before anyone has to find them.
